I went to the library today (yes, very exciting, isn't it? 😜) and one of the books I got was called "A Grain of Sand...Nature's Secret Wonder...The Amazing Microphotography of Dr. Gary Greenberg". The photographs magnify the tiny grains of sand so much that you can see each grain crystal clear, with all its colors, shapes, and diversity. The book really fascinates me and I loved the close ups of Maui sand. I chose a few grains that I really loved the look of, and decided to draw them. According to the book, Maui sand is made of many things, including shell fragments, coral, sea urchin spines, and tiny gemstones and intact shells.
I know you're probably like, "I come to Sketch Club to look at art, McKay, not to get a freakin' lecture on Maui sand!"😝
