Three miles of cherry pink sand blankets the most popular beach in the Bahamas and one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The aptly named Pink Sands Beach acquires its colour from tiny-shelled creatures, Foraminifera, which cover the ocean floor, cave rocks and reefs, and whose broken shells mingle with the sand. The resulting effect is particularly potent at dusk.
