Ancients Group Challenge: Covered bridges

Thank you dear friends for voting my bridge into a 4th place 🏆 Win! 🙏🏻

💕This is the invite sketch for the month of August for the Ancients Group. Please feel free to join the group and participate. http://app.sketchclub.com/group/the-ancients💕

Pisgah Covered bridge was built in 1911 for a mere $40. It is a local and Federal historical landmark located outside of Asheboro, NC in the rugged and beautiful Uwarrie National Forest. It is one of the 2 remaining covered bridges in NC. The bridge is 54 feet in length and crosses the "Little River". It is a direct connection to the county's past mode of transportation when horse and wagon were common and automobile travel was in its infancy.

In 1998 the NC zoo, Dept of transportation, along with Piedmont land conservatory collaborated to maintain and refurbish the bridge. It was almost destroyed in 2003 when it was washed away by a flood. Luckily 99% of the original wood and pieces were salvaged. Today the Pisgah Covered Bridge still holds its original charm and beauty. It is often used for a beautiful backdrop for photo shoots.

Thank you so much for your ❤️'S , 👍🏼 and kind words. All are appreciated by me!
