Here's an example of getting 2 completely different textures using one brush.
The hair and the coat were both done with the brush on the bottom of the tool set in the right hand corner.

For the hair it was set a 0 spacing and no jitter, the brush was moved slowly, if you swipe it too fast it gives a speckled effect.
This way each "speckle" of the brush acts as a strand of hair.

For the coat I just played with the jitter and spacing.
