Sometimes i think us SCers take for granted that everyone knows how layers work, but that is simply not the case. I was asked for some help with this topic, and although I'm no expert, i thought perhaps my "regular joe" perspective might be helpful to others. I'll try to go in order of importance from my limited experience, but feel free to ask questions or comment on your own tips or challenges to help each other learn. If I don't know the answer, I'll try to find someone who does.
