The battle of Trafalgar (1805) was a naval engagement between the British and the combined fleets of the French and Spanish Navy. Twenty seven British ships of the line led by Admiral Lord Nelson aboard HMS Victory defeated thirty three French and Spanish ships without a single British vessel being llost.
I have the (mis)fortune of working in a naval base a couple of hundred yards from where Victory is now berthed in all her glory. In fact as an apprentice I had the pleasure of working on the old girl herself doing some restoration so it seemed fitting to try and sketch her. Originally I wanted to include a number of ships but was when i tried to squeeze them in it didn't look right! lesson learned, sort composition out first! Please zoom, i hope you like!
