This is a self portrait of me at nine. I loved reading, especially comic books. Mom would give us each a quarter Saturday mornings and my brother and I would head off to the base. For a dime, we got to watch a movie, another nickel, really salty popcorn. Afterwards, we would head to the store, where eight cents would buy us a comic. If we each could find a glass pop bottle, those and our remaining four cents would buy us one pop to share.
For those interested, I tried copying the comic style of the sixties.
