This is the sun set view not far from my house at one of my favorite view points in Seattle, Sun Set Hill park. The sun is setting very far to the north as this was just a few days short of the solstice. I was also reading a sci-fi novel at the time about the first human interstellar colony and I had this very other-worldly feel when, for an instant, I saw the sun as a glowing sphere, not simply a disk. I decided to draw it as I’d been having a yearning to do something in color, given my recent obsession with black and white. Added bonus: this also works for the current clouds compo!
