Art student for 37+ years. I didn't know people would actually look at this, but it seems some do. Thank you sincerely for stopping by! I'm 57, I began drawing in high school where I met my mentor, teacher, and the person who first earned my respect - Mr. Jerry Lyons. I've taken many courses since, but I've never met anyone with a natural ability to communicate what he wanted you to know like him. I got the basics of form, color and composition there. In college I tackled watercolor. I needed the discipline (you can't change your mind using Thalo Blue, it doesn't come off and in WC, you can't go lighter over it.) I took an extended break to have and raise my children, the youngest of which has Asperger's Syndrome, so I home schooled him. He graduated in the top 2% of the nation. Now, it's on to learning digital - and with some hard work and the help of this wonderful community, I'm sure I will succeed! I can't thank everyone enough for your kind words, and all the amazing tools and classes offered here! I have fans!?! Lol. Really, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
** Once in a great while, I write as well as draw. I was inspired (driven is more accurate) by a mystical drawing named The Night Tree by DREW OLIVER to write a story to go with it. Please check it out and send some love his way, it's a truly wonderful tree! http://app.sketchclub.com/sketch/10600839 **
One thing I want to add, just because I'm finding it hilarious, but it's completely true... I never drew or painted a flower before I started here. Lol!
I am truly honored just to have been considered for the nominations that I received for the 2014 Sketch Club awards.Thank you, thank you, thank you to the (unknown to me) artist(s) that nominated me, and to Sketch Club!
Hi everyone! I just wanted to say, though I love the Birthday Cards and tributes that everyone has been making for each other, the reason that you never see me making them is because I work slow. If you look at my stats, you will see that everything that I do takes many hours to draw, and I'm just no good at drawing fast. I hope the friends that I have made here can tell that I never say anything that I don't mean, and I truly care about the people who I have met and made friends with, and I hope our relationships won't suffer because of my shortcomings. Everyone that I fan, I do so because I truly love your work, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate the people who have been kind enough to be fans of my work, I really can't tell you - the feelings run too deep. So, thanks for taking the time to read this I you all!
Also, I just wanted to let you know, you would get a lot more hearts from me if I had them. The pace at which I work makes it so I don't get hearts very often. I try to replace what I can't give with what I can, and that is honest, detailed comments about what I enjoy in your work.
One more note, the longer I'm here, of course, the more I learn about Sketch Club. I have yet to earn a feature star, so I just want to sincerely thank the kind artists who have featured my work themselves. I didn't have a clue how hard it is to get them. I still don't, really, but I know enough to be more grateful! Thank you: LaSweetVie , Julie , 🇲🇽 Squarepoint , Alysathena , NinoRawr , Orville , ShellyBelly , Manpies and Julie again! Also sweet Hawaiian Misty (Pam for Tien's tribute! To dear Reggie , and to sweet Mimi in honor of her Mom on my "Flowers 2015 sketch, and their Easter memories. DrawLoud2 🌹and Mimi again - Sweetie, you spoil me! I'd like to thank Neocapt for using his own star to feature my first video, and a sketch very close to my heart. I am honored 🙏🏼 To my soul sister OregonHere for featuring "Worlds Apart" ! And to Algonquinsue for "Spirit Calls"
I am so honored and blessed by you all!
Something is wrong with my fan ability. For some reason I'm getting kicked off lists that I've been on for months, so please excuse me if I'm showing up as "new", I just want to make sure it's correct. Thanks
Please excuse me while I crow... ehemm, I WON (!! woot, woot, woot.) The Co-op Corner's "Challenge: 'El Cuerno' with Squarepoint". http://app.sketchclub.com/sketch/10475894 I've never come in 1st before in a Challenge, and that together with the subject matter of the piece makes this incredibly special for me! Thank you to everyone involved, to you all, and congratulations to the other winners!
*************************THANK YOU!*********************** So very much for the personal nomination of "Most Heartfelt Commenter 2015"! I am SO honored, and so grateful that how I feel about the outstanding work done here on Sketch Club shows through!
Also to the people who have been nominating my artwork. That even one person thinks one of my pieces is the best they've seen all year means more to me than I know how to put into words!
My new avatar is this sketch http://app.sketchclub.com/sketch/10616002 by the truly groovy and oh so kind OregonHere who drew me in my Arlo Guthrie signed American flag turned peace sign tee shirt. You can't see the peace sign in the avatar, but I know it's there, lol. Reminds me of wonderful friendships here. Thank you SO much C for taking the time!!
